Privacy policy

Your data

Last updated June 21, 2026

What we collect

  • Account information. When you sign in, our authentication provider gives us your email address and a basic profile identifier. You may also set a public display name.
  • Content you submit. Verdicts, takes, and rankings you post are stored and shown publicly next to your display name. Reports you file about other users' content are stored for moderation review.
  • Device location. If you grant permission, we use your location to surface nearby businesses. It is used to compute nearby results and is not stored as part of your profile. You can decline or revoke this in your device settings.
  • Correction requests. If you submit the corrections form, we store what you send so we can review it.
  • Basic technical data. Standard server logs (such as IP address and request data) generated by our hosting providers to operate and secure the service.

How we use it

We use this information to run the service: to authenticate you, show businesses near you, display your public takes and leaderboard standing, review reports and correction requests, and keep the service secure. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Who we share it with

We share data only with the service providers that power the app: our hosting and database provider (which stores your account and content), our authentication provider (which manages sign-in), and Google Maps Platform (which provides maps, place details, and photos and is subject to Google's privacy policy). We may disclose information if required by law.

Your choices and rights

  • Edit your profile. You can change your public display name at any time from your account page.
  • Delete your account. You can permanently delete your account from within the app, on the account page. Deleting your account removes your profile, your verdicts, and your takes.
  • Location. Location access is optional and controlled by your device's permission settings.

Retention and security

We keep account information and content for as long as your account is active, and remove it when you delete your account (some data may persist briefly in backups or where retention is legally required). We rely on reputable providers and reasonable safeguards to protect your data, though no online service can be guaranteed fully secure.

Children

Slop Score is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Contact and changes

Questions about privacy, or requests about your data, can be sent through the contact form. We may update this policy from time to time; material changes will be reflected by the date above. Your continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised policy. See also our terms of use.
